Franchise Marketing Bureau is a franchise marketing agency that does two things: the complete online marketing of head office and locations, and the online recruitment of new franchisees. You pay a fixed, public price per location per month, from €199 excl. VAT. Every month you can see per location which actions we took and what effect they had. We complement your own marketers and your current agency with Local SEO, GEO and AI automation, or take it over completely if you prefer.
What does a franchise marketing agency do for your franchise brand?
Online, the brand needs to be strong nationally and every location needs to stand out in its own postcode area. That is why we split our work into two tasks, which we carry out together or separately. See the overview of all marketing channels for the details per channel.
Task 1: online marketing of head office and locations
We manage the profiles, pages, campaigns and reviews of all locations with one approach. Head office sets the brand rules; we make sure every location is locally accurate and stays up to date. Think of opening hours, photos, promotions, posts and replies to reviews.
Task 2: online recruitment of franchisees
Growth of a franchise brand starts with good candidates. We set up a measurable funnel so you can recruit franchisees online in areas without a location. We screen candidates in advance on their own capital and preferred region, so your expansion team only holds serious conversations.
Do we replace your marketers or your current agency?
Usually not. Most franchise brands already employ marketers or work with a regular agency for brand, campaigns and website. What is often missing there is specialist knowledge of Local SEO per location, of GEO (visibility in AI assistants) and of AI automation that keeps dozens of profiles up to date at once. That is no criticism: these are disciplines that have only become this important in recent years.
How big that gap is became clear in our own research into the hundred largest franchise chains in the Netherlands. Almost all chains work with an agency or an in-house marketing department, yet only 40% of the profiles were fully completed and just 6 of the 100 chains replied to reviews within 24 hours. Read more about the Local SEO Benchmark Franchise Chains 2026.
That is why we mainly work as a complement to your current agency and to your own team. A complete takeover is also possible. And then there is our second core task: the online recruitment of new franchisees.
Which channels do we manage in the online marketing of a franchise chain?
We only work on channels whose effect you can measure. For each channel we agree which tasks we carry out and which figure goes into the monthly report. As a marketing manager, you know where the budget goes. The map services come first, because that is where a location's customers most often start. Start, for example, with visibility per location in Google Maps.
| Channel | What we do | What you measure |
|---|---|---|
| Google (SEO) | Brand website and location pages in order, technically and in content | Rankings, organic traffic, enquiries |
| Google Business Profile | Management per location, NAP monitoring, posts | Views, direction requests, call clicks |
| Bing Places | Registering, verifying and maintaining locations | Number of correct listings |
| Apple Business Connect | Place cards with photos, hours and action buttons | Insight into how customers find the place card |
| GEO (AI visibility) | Entity, schema and sources that AI assistants read | Mentions on fixed test questions |
| Social media | YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and LinkedIn | Reach, engagement, clicks to the website |
| Online advertising | Google Ads, Microsoft Ads and Meta Ads, national and local | Cost per enquiry or appointment |
| Review management | Collecting and replying to reviews | Number, rating, response time |
| Recruitment | Funnel for prospective franchisees | Qualified candidates per region |
Why does our franchise marketing agency work differently?
Many franchisors know the old model: a paid listing in a directory, or an agency that bills hours without it being clear what they deliver. We choose faster, more transparent and more sharply priced. Read what sets us apart, or look directly at the differences below.
| Topic | Old-fashioned model | Our approach |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Billed by the hour, surprises afterwards | Fixed public price per location |
| Results | Generic reporting or none at all | Dashboard per location, every month |
| Reach | Listing in a single directory or platform | Google, Maps, Bing, Apple, AI and social |
| Speed | Manual work per location | AI flags anomalies, a human resolves them |
| Start | Long preliminary process | Free scan, followed by a pilot |
AI does the heavy lifting, people decide
We use AI to collect data from all profiles, spot anomalies and create draft texts per location. Every text is checked by a human. Strategy, quality control and client contact remain human work. Read how we use AI responsibly and where we deliberately stop.
Visible in AI assistants
More and more people ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot or Perplexity for advice. With GEO and AI visibility we make sure your franchise brand is recognised as a trustworthy source. We test this every month with the same fixed questions.
Work together on measurable results, not on an annual contract. Start with the free visibility scan.
Why do we work without an annual contract?
Many agencies ask for a one-year contract and report afterwards on what happened. We turn that around. The partnership continues as long as the online figures show it works: more views, more actions per location and a return you can calculate yourself. If results disappoint, you see it in the dashboard and we discuss it straight away, not just at renewal.
This way of working comes from our founder's own experience. In 2010 Gijs set up a franchise brand himself and brought it to market. So he knows what it feels like, as a franchisor, to pay for marketing whose effect you cannot see.
The same applies to recruitment: no paid listing or advertising package, but payment per verified introduction and a success fee on signing. See paying per verified introduction.
| Topic | Standard annual contract | Our approach |
|---|---|---|
| Term | Fixed twelve months | No annual contract; you stay as long as the figures add up |
| Reporting | Afterwards, often quarterly | Continuously in the dashboard per location |
| Evaluation | At renewal | Every month on results and ROI |
| Price | Often on request | Public, per location per month |
How do we go from visibility scan to measurable growth?
We never start with a big plan on paper. We begin with a baseline measurement and prove it in a small group of locations. Only then do we roll out. That way you keep control of the budget and support among franchisees. Everything is set out in how we work in four steps.
- Visibility scan: per location we measure Google, Maps, Bing, Apple, AI and social.
- Pilot: a group of locations takes part for a fixed period.
- Roll-out: what works, we extend to all locations.
- Optimise: adjust every month based on the figures in the dashboard.
Want to know where you stand first? Request the free visibility scan. You receive an overview per location of what is missing.

What does online marketing for franchise brands cost per month?
Each package costs a fixed monthly amount for every location, prices excl. VAT. Advertising budget goes directly to Google, Microsoft or Meta, without any mark-up from us. Social media, SEO, recruitment and ad management come at a fixed monthly price on quote. All amounts are openly listed under clear prices per location.
| Package | Price per location | 30 locations per month |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | €199 | €5,970 |
| Growth | €400 | €12,000 |
| Full service | €600 | €18,000 |
What is included in each package?
Basic: we manage the Google Business Profile, monitor name, address and phone number, and send a monthly report. Growth: on top of that, we reply to reviews within 24 hours and publish posts on the profiles. Full service: local landing pages and GEO as well. For strategy, advice and training we charge €65 per hour, agreed in advance in a quote.
Why is franchise marketing all about the location?
For reference year 2025, the NFV counted 34,937 locations across 936 franchise brands, accounting for €50.5 billion in turnover excl. VAT. According to the NFV, around 80% of franchise brands are SMEs: 50 locations at most. That means small marketing teams with many local profiles to maintain.
Together with Stichting LODAK, Gijs reviewed 500 Google Business Profiles of 100 chains. Only 40% of them turned out to be complete. And at barely 6 chains did a review get a reply within a day. So there is a lot to gain, especially locally.
Who works at Franchise Marketing Bureau?
Founder Gijs Bodenstaff started in online marketing in 1998 and has focused on Local SEO since 2010. With Europlacement.com and Globalplacement.com he built his own European franchise brand, so he knows a franchisor's concerns from practice. Angela analyses Local SEO, Elisabeth manages local advertising from Amersfoort and Peter handles Local SEO and white-hat link building. Researcher Stanley Leijnse follows developments in Local SEO and GEO. In addition, ten regular freelancers whom we trained ourselves work with us. Meet the team behind the agency.
We work for head offices, franchise marketers and new franchise brands. See who we work for and what we do differently for each audience.
Gijs wrote three books on the local visibility of franchise chains, including the Franchise Local SEO & GEO Handboek 2027 (Dutch-language edition). We apply what is in them every day.
How do you measure the online marketing of every location?
Every location gets its own dashboard. It shows visibility, customer actions and reviews side by side, per channel and per month. Head office sees the total and can compare locations with each other. Read more about the marketing dashboard per location.
Which franchise websites belong to our agency?
Franchise Marketing Bureau is part of a small network of our own franchise websites. There is franchiseseo.nl for Local SEO of franchise chains and franchise-starten.nl for aspiring franchisees. Together they form one recognisable entity for search engines and AI. View our network of franchise sites for the complete overview.
What does a location outside the Google Maps top 3 cost you?
This calculation uses Dutch figures instead of American click-through rates. The average revenue per franchise location comes from the Dutch Franchise Association (NFV) statistics, reference year 2025. Nobody can say in advance exactly how much revenue a location loses without a top position in Google Maps, with a Google Business Profile that is not in order, or without proper review management. So you calculate a scenario per cause: a few percent of revenue going to a more visible competitor. Add them up and you see the combined cost.
| Sector | Revenue per location per year | 1% revenue missed | 3% revenue missed | Growth package (€4,800 a year) as share of revenue |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| All sectors (average) | €1,445,000 | €14,450 | €43,350 | 0.33% |
| Services | €480,000 | €4,800 | €14,400 | 1% |
| Hospitality | €1,230,000 | €12,300 | €36,900 | 0.39% |
| Health care | €1,270,000 | €12,700 | €38,100 | 0.38% |
| Non-food retail | €1,750,000 | €17,500 | €52,500 | 0.27% |
| Food retail | €2,910,000 | €29,100 | €87,300 | 0.16% |
| Other brands | €680,000 | €6,800 | €20,400 | 0.71% |
- 6 of the 100 largest Dutch franchise chains reply to a Google review within 24 hours; the average response time is 6.8 days and 90% has no demonstrable review management process.
- Only 40% of the 500 Google Business Profiles examined is fully completed.
- In the measurement one review was viewed around 15,000 times on average: an unanswered complaint stays visible to thousands of people.
- 42% of consumers would rather not do business with a company that never replies to reviews (BrightLocal 2026).
