LinkedIn marketing for franchise brands

The business channel for recruiting franchisees and for building your franchise brand's name among partners.

By Gijs Bodenstaff · Updated:

LinkedIn marketing for franchise brands targets entrepreneurs, partners and future franchisees rather than consumers. LinkedIn has 5.8 million users in the Netherlands, 2.0 million of whom use it daily. We use the channel for recruitment and for head office's business visibility, with a route you can measure from first click to conversation.

Why is LinkedIn important for franchisors?

A location sells to customers. A head office also sells something else: the franchise brand itself. That buyer is an entrepreneur considering a next step, often with experience as a manager or self-employed professional. Exactly those people are on LinkedIn, and they read it with a business eye.

LinkedIn is also the channel where property companies, suppliers, financiers and trade media get to know your franchise brand. If you are visible and consistent there, you have less to explain in a first meeting.

Which audiences can franchise brands reach on LinkedIn?

We create a separate line for each audience. The same post for everyone works poorly on LinkedIn.

Worksheet: audiences and topics on LinkedIn

Prospective franchiseesWhat does it deliver, what does it demand, what support is there?Franchisee stories, explanation of the start-up phase, invitation to an information session

The company page as the official source

The company page is the business card: correct name, head office address, website and a clear description of the franchise brand. That also matters for AI assistants, which use such profiles to determine who you are. We link the page to your website and other profiles through sameAs; that way LinkedIn strengthens your Generative Engine Optimisation for franchise brands.

The founder's and leadership's profiles

People follow people. Posts from a founder or managing director often get more engagement on LinkedIn than posts from a company page. We write drafts based on a conversation; the director edits them and posts them personally. That keeps the voice genuine. AI only helps with the first outline; see AI-driven franchise marketing.

How do you recruit franchisees through LinkedIn?

LinkedIn only delivers candidates when there is a route behind it. We build that route as part of online franchisee recruitment and qualify early on own capital and region, so you do not spend time on conversations that are not a fit.

Checklist: the recruitment route via LinkedIn

What stays with the franchisor

We bring candidates into view; the statutory obligations remain yours. Under the Dutch Franchise Act, the franchisor provides information in advance, including on fees and required investments, after which a four-week standstill period applies before the agreement may be signed. Have your contract reviewed by a franchise lawyer; this is not legal advice. Prospective franchisees who are still exploring can visit franchise-starten.nl.

How do you measure the effect of LinkedIn marketing?

Followers and likes are secondary. We track four metrics:

  • Reach within the audience: do the right job titles and regions see your posts?
  • Clicks to the recruitment page, measured with UTM codes.
  • Share of suitable sign-ups: how many candidates meet the region and own capital criteria?
  • Conversations with LinkedIn as the source: the outcome that counts.

What the whole route looks like is explained in the article on an online franchisee recruitment funnel.

Fictional example: a new franchise brand looking for five franchisees

A fictional franchise brand with three company-owned locations wants to expand with five franchisees in two provinces. We start with the company page and the founder's profile; the founder posts every week about day-to-day practice in the company-owned locations. Next comes an ad aimed at entrepreneurs and managers in the two provinces, linking to the recruitment page. Sign-ups from outside the target regions get a friendly rejection and a tip; the rest get an invitation to an information session. You see all the figures per step in the dashboard. What does LinkedIn marketing cost a franchisor?

LinkedIn management and recruitment campaigns get a fixed monthly price on quotation. Strategy, advice and training cost €65 per hour, always with a fixed quote in advance. You pay the advertising budget directly to LinkedIn. The packages for locations have published prices per location. Who the team behind the agency is, you can read in Gijs Bodenstaff's background; he built a European franchise brand himself. All channels are listed under all services for franchise brands.

Questions about LinkedIn for franchisors

How many Dutch people use LinkedIn in 2026?
According to Newcom's National Social Media Survey 2026, 5.8 million Dutch people aged 15 and over use LinkedIn, 2.0 million of them daily. Daily use is lower than for Instagram or TikTok, but the audience is business-minded. For a franchisor wanting to reach entrepreneurs, partners and prospective franchisees, that is exactly the right audience.
Is LinkedIn suitable for marketing individual locations?
Usually not as the main channel. Consumers look for a location through Google, Maps and Instagram. We use LinkedIn for head office: recruiting franchisees, contact with property companies and suppliers, and the franchise brand's name in the business world. Only franchise brands with business customers also use LinkedIn per location.
Should the managing director of a franchise brand post on LinkedIn personally?
It works best when the founder or director is visible personally, because people respond more readily to a person than to a company page. That need not take much time. We create drafts based on a short conversation, and the director edits and posts them. That keeps the tone genuine and leaves the director in control.
How do you qualify prospective franchisees who come through LinkedIn?
With a short sign-up form on the recruitment page. We ask for the preferred region and an indication of own capital. Candidates who are not a fit receive a friendly message with a tip. The rest receive an invitation to an information session. That way head office only spends conversation time on realistic candidates.
Which statutory obligations apply when recruiting through LinkedIn?
The Dutch Franchise Act requires the franchisor to provide information in advance, including on fees and required investments. A four-week standstill period then applies before the agreement may be signed. Those obligations remain with the franchisor, even if we handle the recruitment. Have your contract reviewed by a franchise lawyer; this is not legal advice.
Does a LinkedIn company page help with visibility in AI assistants?
Yes. AI assistants use public profiles to determine who an organisation is and what it does. A complete company page with the same name, address and description as your website makes your franchise brand easier to recognise. We reference it through sameAs in the schema markup, so the profiles are linked to each other.
How often should a franchisor post on LinkedIn?
One to two posts a week from the leadership's profile and one post a week from the company page is a manageable rhythm for most franchise brands. More important than frequency is that every post addresses one audience, such as candidates, partners or trade media. We plan this ahead and adjust based on the figures.
Are LinkedIn ads needed to recruit franchisees?
Not always, but they speed up recruitment. Organic posts mainly reach your own network. With ads you reach entrepreneurs and managers in the regions where you are looking to open locations. You pay the budget directly to LinkedIn. We handle the set-up and measure per campaign how many suitable sign-ups come in.
Which LinkedIn figures will I see in the dashboard?
You see the reach within the audience, the number of clicks to the recruitment page, the share of sign-ups that fit on region and own capital, and the number of conversations with LinkedIn as the source. That way you see not only whether posts are read, but also whether they deliver candidates who really fit.
What does LinkedIn marketing cost for a franchise brand?
LinkedIn management and recruitment campaigns get a fixed monthly price on quotation, depending on the number of audiences and campaigns. Strategy, advice and training cost €65 per hour, with a fixed quote in advance. You pay the advertising budget directly to LinkedIn. That way you know the cost in advance and see in the dashboard what it delivers.
