AI franchise marketing: our AI approach

AI does the heavy counting and searching across all locations. People choose, check and stay in touch.

In AI franchise marketing we use AI for work that cannot be done by hand across dozens of locations: collecting data from Google, Apple and Bing, tracking down discrepancies, preparing draft texts and measuring whether AI assistants mention your franchise brand. Every text is checked by a person before it goes live, and strategy remains human work.

Why does a franchise marketing agency use AI?

A chain with thirty locations quickly has ninety listings across three map services, plus reviews, photos, posts and location pages. Something can change every day: a user suggests different opening hours, a category shifts, a review goes unanswered. Our own benchmark of 500 Google Business Profiles from 100 chains showed that 40% were fully completed. That is rarely down to unwillingness. It is simply too much to keep up with.

That is where AI helps. Not to invent marketing, but to see more quickly where something goes wrong and to do preparatory work. That way our specialists spend their time on decisions instead of searching.

Which tasks does AI carry out in our approach?

We describe the use of AI per task, so you know exactly what happens. There is no secret in-house software behind it; we use AI tools within a fixed way of working with human oversight.

How do we measure AI visibility for franchise brands?

More and more people ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot or Perplexity for advice, and Google shows AI Overviews above the regular results. Whether your franchise brand is mentioned there cannot be measured with a ranking tool. We work with a fixed set of test questions per franchise brand and region, which we ask again every month. That shows you whether anything is moving. More about the approach is on visibility in ChatGPT and Gemini, and the knowledge base article explains how AI assistants recommend franchise brands.

Gijs Bodenstaff also tests questions like these outside client work, in his own test lab LocalSEOLab.nl. Read more about Gijs's background and experience.

Where are the limits of AI in franchise marketing?

We are honest about what AI cannot do. AI makes mistakes, sometimes invents data and does not know the local situation of a location. That is why we never publish anything without human review. Answers from AI assistants also vary by moment and by user, so a single measurement says little. Only a trend over several months counts.

We also do not promise time savings in percentages or a guaranteed place in ChatGPT. Nobody can guarantee that. What we do promise: every month you see what was measured and what we did with it, in the reporting for every location.

What remains human work in an AI-driven approach?

Strategy, review and contact. An AI can flag that a location is falling behind in Maps, but it cannot discuss with the franchisee why the opening hours keep changing. Our specialists do that work. For us, AI is part of our four-phase approach, not a replacement for it. It fits what makes us different: fast, open about what we do and measurable per location. Which channels we serve this way is set out in the complete online services package.

Questions about AI in how we work

Does AI write the texts for our locations?
AI produces a first version based on fixed input, such as the service, the town and the features of the location. A colleague reads that text, edits it and checks the facts. Only then does it go live. That way you combine speed across many locations with texts that are accurate and suit your franchise brand.
Can AI guarantee that ChatGPT mentions our franchise brand?
No, and nobody can. AI assistants decide for themselves which sources they use and their answers vary from moment to moment. What we do: strengthen the signals they rely on, such as consistent data, schema and mentions in trustworthy places. With fixed test questions we measure monthly whether that has an effect.
Which AI assistants do you measure?
We look at ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Perplexity and the AI Overviews in Google. For each franchise brand we draw up a fixed set of test questions, for example per region or service. We repeat those questions every month, so you see whether your franchise brand is mentioned more or less often and which sources the assistants use.
Do you use your own AI software?
No, we have no AI product of our own. We use existing AI tools within a fixed way of working, with agreements on review and privacy. The difference lies not in a software name but in how we use it: always per location, always with a person who checks and always visible in the monthly report.
What happens to our data?
We process public data such as addresses, opening hours and reviews to track down discrepancies. We do not put personal data of customers or franchisees into public AI tools. We record per assignment exactly which data we use. Our privacy statement explains how we handle data.
How does AI find errors in our profiles?
We retrieve the data of all locations from Google, Apple and Bing and compare it with the data head office designates as correct. If an address, phone number, opening time or category differs, a specialist receives an alert. They look at what is going on and correct it.
Does AI make you cheaper?
Our prices are fixed per location and public. AI helps us serve many locations without the work becoming unaffordable, but we do not quote percentages of time saved. What you pay is fixed in advance, and in the dashboard you see per location what has been done for that amount.
What exactly is entity and schema building?
Search engines and AI assistants recognise your franchise brand as an entity if your data is correct everywhere and connected. With schema markup on your site and sameAs links to your profiles, you help them make those connections in the knowledge graph. AI helps us keep that markup consistent for all locations.
Who is responsible if AI makes a mistake?
We are. That is why a person checks everything AI prepares before it goes live. If something does slip through, we correct it and report it in the monthly report. For us AI is a tool; final responsibility lies with the team and ultimately with Gijs Bodenstaff as founder.
Can we see for ourselves what AI has done?
Yes. The monthly report shows per location which discrepancies were flagged, what was changed and how AI visibility is developing. If you want more detail, such as the answers to the test questions, we share them. Openness about our approach is part of the way we work.
