Google Maps for franchise chains comes down to one thing: a complete, accurate and active Google Business Profile for every location. In the Local SEO Benchmark Franchise Chains 2026, only 40% of the 500 profiles studied were fully completed. We manage all profiles centrally, monitor the data and report per location how many customers call, request directions or click through.
Why are Google Business Profiles so important for chains?
Anyone searching for a service with a place name often sees a map with three providers first in Google. That is where the choice is made, before anyone visits a website. For a chain this means: every location competes within its own radius for those three spots, against independent businesses that maintain their own profiles.
The brand helps, but the profile has to do the work. A location with outdated opening hours, few photos or unanswered reviews loses out to a smaller competitor with a well-kept profile. With dozens of locations, that cannot be kept up by hand.
In the Local SEO Benchmark Franchise Chains 2026 we saw how much chains leave untapped: only 7% of profiles used the WhatsApp integration, 19% of chains had ever published a Google Post and 10% did so weekly. Not a single chain answered all the questions visitors asked on their profiles.

How do you organise Google Maps management centrally and per location?
We work from one organisation account, in which head office remains the owner of all profiles. We receive management rights. The franchisee can view and supply local input, but does not change core details without head office knowing. That keeps the name, address and phone number identical everywhere.
Set centrally
Brand name, primary category, description, logo, services and the house rules for replying to reviews. These elements are the same for the whole chain and only change after a decision by head office.
Filled in locally
Opening hours including bank holidays, photos of the location and the team, local promotions, questions from nearby customers and additional categories that apply only to that location. This is where the franchisee makes the difference.
What exactly do we do for your Business Profiles?
Every day, AI compares the data of all profiles with head office's source list and flags discrepancies, such as a changed phone number or an edit suggested by a user. A specialist reviews every alert and puts it right. AI drafts posts and replies, and a person approves them.
| Task | Frequency | Package |
|---|---|---|
| Fully complete the profile and choose categories | At the start, then quarterly | Basic |
| NAP monitoring and reverting changes | Ongoing | Basic |
| Monthly report per location | Monthly | Basic |
| Answer reviews within 24 hours | Ongoing | Growth |
| Posts, offers and updates | Weekly or per promotion | Growth |
| Local landing page behind the profile | At the start, then kept up to date | Full service |
Reviews as part of the profile
In the benchmark, only 6 of the 100 chains responded to reviews within 24 hours. In the Growth package, we do that for every location. Want to manage reviews on more platforms? Then take a look at review management per location.

Which Google Maps figures do you measure per location?
The Business Profile provides its own statistics. We collect them for all locations, put them side by side and highlight locations that deviate from the chain average.
| Metric | Why | How we measure it |
|---|---|---|
| Views in Maps and Search | Shows how often the location is seen | Profile statistics per month |
| Direction requests | Strongest signal of a physical visit | Profile statistics per location |
| Call clicks | Direct contact with the location | Click to call from the profile |
| Website clicks | Traffic to the location page | Clicks with UTM code |
| Profile completeness | Incomplete profiles are chosen less often | Own checklist per location |
| Review response time | Customers read the replies too | Hours between review and reply |
Which mistakes do we see in chains' Google Maps profiles?
- Duplicate profiles. After a move or takeover, two profiles exist for one location. That splits reviews and confuses customers.
- Edits by users. Anyone can suggest an edit. Without monitoring, a wrong number or a closed location suddenly appears.
- Brand name stuffed with keywords. Adding a place name or service to the business name seems clever, but does not comply with Google's guidelines and can lead to suspension.
- Forgotten bank holidays. Customers drive to a location that is closed that day and leave a review about it.
- Only maintaining Google. The data in other maps falls behind. That is why we also cover Apple Business Connect for chains and locations in Bing Maps.
What does profile management cost for a chain with dozens of locations?
A fictional worked example. A franchise brand with 30 locations starts with a pilot of ten locations in Growth. The other twenty run on Basic, so their data is at least correct and monitored.
| Group | Locations | Price per location | Per month excl. VAT |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pilot in Growth | 10 | €400 | €4,000 |
| Others in Basic | 20 | €199 | €3,980 |
| Total | 30 | €7,980 | |
| After roll-out, all in Growth | 30 | €400 | €12,000 |
Price indication
Profile management is included in our fixed prices from the Basic package upwards. We charge €65 per hour for advice and training for regional managers, with a quote in advance. You will find all packages under our franchise pricing packages.
How does the Google Business Profile strengthen your other channels?
The profile does not stand on its own. The location page on your site gives Google extra confirmation of address, services and opening hours, and captures the clicks. That is why profile management works best together with organic visibility in Google. Most of it happens on the phone: see also how we handle near me searches.

What does a location outside the Google Maps top 3 cost you?
This calculation uses Dutch figures instead of American click-through rates. The average revenue per franchise location comes from the Dutch Franchise Association (NFV) statistics, reference year 2025. Nobody can say in advance exactly how much revenue a location loses without a top position in Google Maps, with a Google Business Profile that is not in order, or without proper review management. So you calculate a scenario per cause: a few percent of revenue going to a more visible competitor. Add them up and you see the combined cost.
| Sector | Revenue per location per year | 1% revenue missed | 3% revenue missed | Growth package (€4,800 a year) as share of revenue |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| All sectors (average) | €1,445,000 | €14,450 | €43,350 | 0.33% |
| Services | €480,000 | €4,800 | €14,400 | 1% |
| Hospitality | €1,230,000 | €12,300 | €36,900 | 0.39% |
| Health care | €1,270,000 | €12,700 | €38,100 | 0.38% |
| Non-food retail | €1,750,000 | €17,500 | €52,500 | 0.27% |
| Food retail | €2,910,000 | €29,100 | €87,300 | 0.16% |
| Other brands | €680,000 | €6,800 | €20,400 | 0.71% |
- 6 of the 100 largest Dutch franchise chains reply to a Google review within 24 hours; the average response time is 6.8 days and 90% has no demonstrable review management process.
- Only 40% of the 500 Google Business Profiles examined is fully completed.
- In the measurement one review was viewed around 15,000 times on average: an unanswered complaint stays visible to thousands of people.
- 42% of consumers would rather not do business with a company that never replies to reviews (BrightLocal 2026).
