With social media per location, you do not choose between central or local, but decide per platform. The brand channel usually runs centrally, local posts and ads per location. According to Newcom's National Social Media Survey 2026, 14.6 million Dutch people aged 15 and over use social media, on 4.5 platforms on average.
Which models for social media per location exist?
In practice we see three ways in which franchise brands set up their social channels. No single model is always right. It depends on how locally your customer buys and how much time a franchisee has.
Comparison of three social media models for a chain
Model
Strong in
Risk
Suits
Everything central
Consistent brand and tone
Little local engagement
Online sales, national promotions
Hybrid
Brand plus neighbourhood
Requires clear house rules
Shops, hospitality, services
Everything local
Fast local response
Dormant or off-brand accounts
Small chains with active entrepreneurs
Model 1: everything central
The head office manages one account per platform. Locations supply photos and news. Strong for brand consistency, weak for local engagement: a customer in Groningen sees posts about a promotion in Breda.
Model 2: hybrid
One brand account, plus local pages or location pages where appropriate. The head office creates a content calendar with ready-made posts. The location adds its own images and local news, within fixed house rules.
Model 3: everything local
Each location has its own accounts. This only works if franchisees have the time and talent. Without guidance you end up with dormant accounts, off-brand logos and posts that do not fit the franchise brand.
Which social platforms work centrally and which per location?
Reach varies widely by platform. Newcom's 2026 figures offer guidance when choosing where to invest your time.

Which social media house rules should you give your locations?
House rules stop a hybrid model from falling apart. Keep them short and practical, so a franchisee can read them on one screen.

How many social posts per month should a chain create?
A fictitious worked example for a franchise brand with 20 locations in a hybrid model. The head office supplies 8 brand posts per month, which every location can share. Each location also creates 4 posts of its own. That puts 8 central and 80 local posts online each month, 88 in total. Using AI, we create draft texts per location based on the brand posts and local input. A person checks every draft before it goes live.
We offer social media management and advertising at a fixed monthly price on quote. How the scan, pilot and roll-out phases work is explained in our four-phase approach.
What should you measure for social media per location?
Followers say little. Look at what a post does for the location: clicks to the location page, route requests, messages via WhatsApp or Instagram, and bookings. Compare these per location side by side and you will see which franchisees need more support. An overview of the key metrics for franchise chains is available in a separate article. For local campaigns beyond social, see franchise-marketing.nl. You will find more guides among further practical articles in our knowledge base.
Questions about social media for franchise locations
Does every location need its own Instagram account?
Not always. Its own account works if the franchisee regularly has local news and time to respond. Otherwise, one brand account with location tags and local stories per location is often stronger. Decide per franchise brand, and record who owns the account so it is not lost when the franchisee changes.
How do you keep the house style consistent when locations post themselves?
Give locations ready-made templates, a short list of house rules and a content calendar from head office. Let them mainly add their own photos and local news rather than design posts themselves. Check a sample of posts per location every month and discuss deviations in your meetings with the franchisee, not in public.
Which social platform has the largest reach in the Netherlands?
According to Newcom's National Social Media Survey 2026, YouTube has 10.6 million users, Instagram 8.9 million, LinkedIn 5.8 million and TikTok 4.7 million. WhatsApp is used daily by 12.1 million people. On average, a Dutch person aged 15 or over uses 4.5 platforms.
What does social media management per location cost with you?
You get social media management from us at a fixed monthly price on quote, tailored to the number of locations, platforms and posts. You pay ad budget directly to the platform. Strategy and training for franchisees are charged at €65 per hour, always with a fixed quote in advance.
May a franchisee run their own promotions on social media?
That depends on your franchise agreement and house rules. Many franchise brands allow local promotions, provided prices and conditions match the national brand. Agree in advance what is allowed without alignment, such as a local event, and what must always go through head office first, such as discounts.
Who answers comments and messages on social media?
Questions about a location are preferably answered by someone who knows the location. Complaints and general questions can be handled centrally. Agree a maximum response time, for example one working day, and who takes over if the location cannot meet it. We can act as that first line and pass on local questions.
Do you use AI for social posts per location?
Yes, AI creates draft texts per location based on the brand posts and what the location supplies, such as a local event. A person checks every draft for tone, facts and house rules before it goes online. AI also flags accounts that have gone quiet, so we can get in touch in good time.
Is TikTok suitable for a franchise brand?
For franchise brands with a young or visual audience, yes. According to Newcom, TikTok had 4.7 million users in 2026, 3.4 million of them daily. Ideally, work with one central account and let locations supply short videos. That keeps the brand recognisable while still giving the neighbourhood a face.
How do you measure whether social media delivers results for a location?
Do not just look at followers or likes. Measure clicks to the location page, route requests, messages via WhatsApp or Instagram and bookings or appointments. In the dashboard per location we compare these figures month by month, so you can see which locations perform well and where extra support helps.
What should you do with dormant accounts of former locations?
First map all accounts that use the brand name. Close accounts of closed locations or merge them with the brand account, so customers do not end up at a closed door. If that is not possible because access is missing, report the account to the platform through the official route.
